VEX VR
This page documents my work and learning throughout the VEX VR Computer Science course.
Challenge: Find Your Age
Goal
The goal was to fill in blocks with your birth month, day and year, each having their own color.
My Solution
What I Learned
I learned how to use the fill block, and how many inches long a block is.
Challenge: Basketball Drills
The goal was to make lines on a grid that progressively go higher up.
My Solution
What I Learned
I learned how to use the pen block, how to use the wait block and the when start block in other ways other than for starting.
Challenge: Storm The Castle
The goal was to crash over all the castles without touching the red line.
My Solution
I used increase velocity and increase turn velocity to allow me to reach the castles. I turned at the right direction instead of just bashing into it so I could knock over more, the speed of the car made the force stronger.
What I Learned
I learned how to control movement better, and where I’d rotate. I also learned how more drivetrain speed might cause less accuracy.
Challenge: Draw A House
The goal was to draw a house using the pen feature, also adding extra accessories to the house.
My Solution
I repeatedly use loop to drastically shorten my code, and keep it simple and easy for me, like looping rotations and drivetrains to draw a square instead of copy and pasting it. It made it significantly easier to do.
What I learned
I learned how to loop sequences.
Challenge: Wall Maze with Bumpers
My Solution
I decided not to increase speed because of the potential of glitching through every wall, and took it slower. I used bumpers to help me navigate the maze and turn without having to put a specific time as when to turn, just turning automatically.
What I learned
I learned how to use bumpers and the wait until logic in order to turn to avoid obstacles and get closer towards the goal.
Challenge: Wall Maze with Distance Sensors
My Solution
My solution was to adjust the value in the distance sensor to activate the next sequence from closer or farther distances.
What I learned
I learned how to use distance sensors to turn once in range of an object, without requiring wait times.
Challenge: Drive to Three Numbers Challenge
My Solution
My solution was to read from the VexCODE VR info, and then use my gained knowledge to understand the coordinates for the new blocks.
